IrelandIreland has a rich history and culture.

You can see the traditional Irish culture in the rural areas of Ireland. Here, traditional customs are in the contrast with the urban areas.

Ireland doesn’t have an official religion but most of the people are Catholics. People of Ireland are very friendly.

Farming is very important for the Irish.

Some texts show that in historic times cattle was a status symbol. Even today, cattle is important –the cattle population is 6.7 million. In the past, men did everything on the land and women went to the market to sell products. Today farmers use the latest methods in farming.

There are a lot of castles in Ireland which speak about the history of this country. Homes in Ireland are built in a similar way as in the past. Houses and doors are painted in bright colours. They usually have terraces.

The Irish have made a significant contribution in the world of literature.

This beautiful place even has 4 winners of the Nobel Prize for literature (20th century); George Bernard Shaw, William Butler Yeats, Samuel Beckett and Seamus Heaney. They were born in Dublin except Seamus Heaney. The Irish language has the third oldest literature in the world. There are examples of Irish poetry that date from the 6th century.

Ireland is also popular for folk music and dance.

An Irish dance group Riverdance, which first performed in 1994, showed a few dances of Ireland. Old step dancing and the modern versions are popular all over the world.
